I should have acknowledged it immediately but wishing to see Monroe and the Editors of the American. I have deferred doing so till now. And now I am obliged to say to you that sickness in my family together with the extreme hot weather have prevented me from calling on the proprietors of these papers on the subject. I am pleased with the idea you suggest and will do any thing I can to promote it. But for the present can say nothing as to its practicability. I hope to see these [?]
